PROJECT AND INFORMATION Girls Education: Education is the fundamental  building block for women’s empowerment and social transformation as educated women are more likely to delay marriage, postpone child bearing, plan their families properly thereby reducing the risk of contracting HIV. Most girl children drop out of primary school in their fifth grade before they can attain sustainable literacy. Gender role expectations increase the chances of having girl child withdrawn from school. These include caring for the sick family members and house holds.

Food Security and Women Empowerment: NYNO is committed to help communities with resources through provision of inputs to help them produce enough food which will take them through the whole growing calendar. This will also help communities eating nutritious food thereby reducing cases of malnourishment in children and community at large.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN; child abuse, exploitation and  violence against women in in Malawi is now a song though organizations in Malawi are trying but there in  a need to start taking action at community and grassroots level so that the government has to take action, As NYNO we always say that if sex workers are not safe then no woman is safe. NYNO is in a position again to work with various groups in northern region on this issues of violence against women and child abuse [Rape] in this project NYNO will work in partnership with Initiative for Positive Interaction and Development [IPID Malawi] and Centre for Children and Youth Empowerment [CCYE]

Girl child trafficking- This form of child trafficking has increased at an alarming rate. This is our reality and it is a problem. The parents who are poor don’t see why a young woman should not go to South Africa and bring home some income. Most young women too want to go because they think that the promises are genuine.  If a young woman refuses to go to South Africa, she becomes an enemy of the custodians of tradition, culture and religion who believe that we must obey our parents. This situation makes us vulnerable as young women.  We are determined therefore on a daily basis through our collective activism to fight for that space in our society and to speak out on girl child trafficking.

NYNO WANTS TO ESTABLISH A SEX WORKERS HELP LINE [HOTLINE] FOR REFERRAL, EMERGENCIES AND SUPPORT
The sex work industry will be subject to the same laws which apply to all other sectors in Malawi, including existing labour legislation. Other benefits will include;
•    Allowing sex workers to practice their profession openly without fear.
•    Easier access to health care facilities without stigma
•    Reducing the health and life dangers involved in the profession of sex work
•    Allowing sex workers the protection and benefits of the law.
•    More comprehensive health care services for sex workers, including those that address rape, sexual violence, mental health, substance abuse, care of sex workers who are HIV positive, adolescent health, nutrition and antenatal care/maternal mortality.
•    Freedom to contribute to national tax payment system therefore raising the sex workers self esteem.
NYNO emphasizes that the current sex worker situation in Malawi calls for immediate action and if the government does not come out to act then Malawi will lose the battle on HIV/AIDS.  As NYNO we always say that if sex workers are not safe then no woman is safe.
This hotline NYNO will let this sex workers know through district coordinators and through special sex workers groups and clubs visits.
